My Story
Born in Hamburg, Germany, I graduated with Master's Degrees in Fine Arts and Education from the University of Hamburg.
I developed collaborative art concepts and participated in artist exchange programs in France, Austria, Turkey, and Brazil, where I taught experimental drawings at summer programs.
In 1992, I designed original plays for theaters in Hamburg & Berlin.
I have been participating in the San Francisco Open Studios since 1994, and my artwork has been selected for various art shows over the years.
For the past 25 years, I have worked as an Art Director at the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco Tenderloin Clubhouse. During my tenure, we offered a wide range of comprehensive art programs, including fine arts, photography, video, theater, and dance.
In 2003, I was recognized by State Senator Jackie Speier with the Annual Childcare Provider Award of California, presented for my commitment to mentoring and inspiring children living in the Tenderloin area through art.
In 2010 I finished a decade of service as a board member of ArtSpan, producer of San Francisco Open Studios, and chairman of the Open Studio Committee, a forum for artists organizing the citywide event. I'm still an active member of the Art for City Youth Program, organizing art literacy programs, art workshops, museum tours, and other activities intended to connect underserved youth with the local art community and taking part in Open Studios.
For the last 25 years, I have been living and working in the Tenderloin neighborhood. Twice, I have received the Hidden Gem of the Tenderloin Award from the Wildflowers Institute.
