Biography

Born in Hamburg, Germany, Kay Weber is an artist and educator who believes deeply in the power of art to connect, heal, and inspire. With Master’s Degrees in Fine Arts and Education from the University of Hamburg, Kay’s creative journey has spanned continents and disciplines—from experimental drawing workshops in France and Austria to collaborative projects in Turkey and Brazil.
In the early ’90s, Kay brought his artistic flair to the stage, designing original plays for theaters in Hamburg and Berlin. A move to San Francisco soon followed, where he immersed himself in the local arts community, becoming a fixture in San Francisco Open Studios since 1994 and serving for a decade on the board of ArtSpan.
For over 25 years, Kay served as Art Director at the Tenderloin Clubhouse of the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco, where he created a vibrant, youth-centered art program that embraced everything from fine arts to photography, theater, and dance. His commitment to nurturing creativity in underserved communities earned him awards from the California State Senate and the Wildflowers Institute in 2020. In 2025, he was honored with a Certificate of Honor from the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, recognizing his 26 years of visionary leadership—mentoring generations of youth, building lasting arts partnerships, and transforming the Tenderloin into a creative force.
Whether in the studio or the classroom, Kay’s work blends structure with spontaneity, play with purpose. Now based in Palm Springs, he continues to explore the magic of paper, scissors, and storytelling—creating new work and new ways to share the joy of art.
